Al Shabaab fighters conducted coordinated attacks in Afgooye in the night of 16/02. The al Shabaab fighters attacked three positions simultaneously, at Mukayga base, the Police Station and the Bar Ismail checkpoint. The fighting lasted for more than an hour after which the attackers managed to take full control of Afgooye town. The al Shabaab attackers also seized two military vehicles, one civilian vehicle and confiscated small arms and they stayed in the town until 05:00 in the morning. Initial reports confirms death of three SNG soldiers and four civilians. |
