The protests comes a day after pro-Somaliland elders from Dhulbahante held a press conference and condemned the militiamen loyal to Khatumo who killed two Habar-Jeclo herders in Geed Xamarka village near Carro Wayn village (45km NE of Buuhoodle). The protesters marched in the streets of the town chanting anti-Somaliland slogans and burned tires while also damaged and destroyed windscreens of private vehicles. The two protests is believed to be organized by the Khatumo administration.

Three civilians were injured by stray bullets.

Two al Shabaab fighters were killed while another one was injured.

The Minister was supposed to meet with Jubaland president at statehouse however his driver received information regarding the IED fitted in the vehicle and changed to another car instead. An EOD team arrive and safely dismantled the device after communication network was suspended. The security forces arrested three people, relatives of minister on suspicion ground. Latest reports on 18/02 indicate that the security forces again arrested more suspects' and currently could not be determined the number of people arrested.
