Young people barricaded several streets in throughout Beni and surrounding neighbourhoods following the death of 2 youth members of a self-defense brigade while the army were on a patrol in the same area. They demanded the army and MONUSCO take action against the ADF or that MONUSCO should leave depending on the source. They later lit fires around the MONUSCO base in Oicha and broke down the gate, but FARDC soldiers arrived and fired into the air to disperse the crowds of armed protesters. 7 were injured, including 1 by gunfire. |
