The Egypt pro-reform movement Kefaya organized simultaneous rallies across the country in protest at President Hosni Mubarak's unchallenged 24-year-old rule. They coordinated 14 marches at the same time under the banner "no constitution without freedom." Some 75 protestors around the country were arrested but later released.Among the towns affected by the demonstrations: Cairo, Suez, Alexandria, Sinai town of El-Arish , Minya, Mansoura. In some cases clashes occured between civilians and police forces, some civilians being arrested. |

A suicide bomber wounded several foreigners outside one of Cairo's most popular tourist attractions.A second attack with a bomb took placxe one hour after, conducted by the sister and fiancee of the first suicide bomber.The attacks were claimed in Internet statements by a group calling itself the Brigades of the Martyr Abdullah Azzam and another one called the Egyptian Mujahedeen Group. 200 arrests were done afterwards in relation to these attacks. |

Thousands of supporters of the banned Muslim Brotherhood, Egypt's largest Islamic group, protested across the country in an escalation of the opposition campaign demanding political reform. Police arrested hundreds of protesters. The protests took place in Cairo, several cities in the Delta and in Fayoum, south of Cairo.Security sources said police had detained about 80 protesters in El-Mansura and 100 in Zagazig, both in the Nile Delta north of Cairo, and 30 in El-Faiyum, to the southwest. Brotherhood officials reported many other detentions elsewhere. About 220 protesters were arrested during demonstrations in the Delta provinces of Sharqiya and Daqahliya and in Fayoum. |
