A group of villagers killed a mental patient mistaken for a thief Saturday in northern Egypt, state-run news agency MENA reported. Residents of a village near Zagazig town in Sharqiya, about 65 km north of the capital Cairo, chased the man, who they believed was stealing a car, until he jumped into a canal. The villagers pulled him out, killed him and mutilated his body. An investigation later revealed the man was a mental patient on his way to get his monthly medications at a local hospital. |
