The head of security at the foreign ministry is said to have been shot dead by Islamic State (IS) gunmen at one of their checkpoints near Al-Nawfaliya, east of Sirte. His brother was also killed in the incident and his brother's wife seriously wounded. The killings took place when the man and his brother were travelling back to Al-Bayda from their father's funeral at Brak Al-Shatti.
