Two international staffs of an INGO were kidnapped by a group of gunmen while travelling back from Galkacyo South to Galkacyo North. The attack against their three -cars convoy occurred in proximity of the SPU exchange point by the Galkacyo airport, in Galkacyo South. The armed escort used by the INGO did not attempt to resist the attack and may have been involved in its preparation. The abductors are believed to be a group of pirates/local gangs from different sub-clans of central regions. The abductors and their hostages moved south along the Galkcyo-Docol-Camaara road. |
