Al-Shabaab fighters launched a multi direction attack the town of Caato (near Garas Weyne) where Somali and Ethiopian troops are based in resulting in direct confrontation that lasted several hours. Reports indicate that over 30 people from both sides have been killed in the fighting whereas over 20 others have been wounded. The town's district commissioner, Dhubad Hasan Ali, said at least 28 people have been confirmed dead in the bitter fighting between allied forces and Al-Shabab militants that launched the attacks. |
