Al Shabaab fighters ambushed a SNA convoy in the vicinity of God Doofaar (roughly 40km NE of Afgooye) in the morning of 20/06. Fierce fighting erupted after the ambush and the fighting lasted close to thirty minutes after which the SNA retreated towards Afgooye town. The SNA convoy were chasing after the al Shabaab attackers who attacked a Police outpost in Mukayaga neighbourhood (Afgooye). Fifteen SNA personnel were confirmed dead and even more were injured. Al Shabaab attackers also suffered losses but exact figures could not be established. |

Unidentified gunmen believed to be from Habarjeclo/Soolamadaw sub clan reportedly shot and killed a person from Dhulbahante/Reer Hagar sub clan in the area of Horufadhi village (40km N of Buuhoodle) in the night of 20/06. The motive of the killing remains unknown. The Dhulbahante reportedly mobilized its clan militias and attacked the herders from Habarjeclo and both militias exchanged gunfire in which both sides retreated from the scene. The perpetrator escaped unidentified and no casualties were reported in that attack. The traditional elders from both warring clans intervened and started to investigate the exact perpetrator. Unconfirmed reports are suspecting the involvement of Khatumo forces against the recent killing in order to create insecurity between the two clans since the recent attacks against the telecommunication companies. |
