Two helicopters deployed troops to Buulo Barako (24 KM NW of Baidoa) after al Shabaab and SNGF engaged in an armed clash on 31/08. Al Shabaab opened gunfire at the helicopters but no damage was reported and the helicopters are started firing, making al Shabaab fighters flee and hide in civilian houses. Seven al Shabaab fighters were taken alive and airlifted to Baidoa for further interrogation. Five motorcycles were also confiscated. The number of al Shabaab dead is rumoured to be around 30. |
