Mudundu 40 and RCD-Goma [Goma-based rebel Congolese Rally for Democracy], who have been deployed in Kabare to prevent possible attacks by Interahamwe [Rwandan Hutu militia] and other forces following killings in Busura have been terrorizing Kahavi [phonetic], Kalulu and Kibao. Road blocks have been mounted on all roads and innocent travellers have been asked to pay 20 Congolese francs to be allowed to continue. A part from that, the residents are expected to provide food rations for the soldiers every month despite being affected by serious famine themselves. |
