Police on Sunday began investigations into circumstances that led to the death of fans at the Nyayo National Stadium during a floodlit Premier League match. Over 380 police officers including a 100 man anti riot police contingent had been deployed to Nyayo National Stadium to provide security during the tension packed match. Four bodies including that of a 21-year old Railways Training Institute student were being preserved at the City Mortuary by Sunday afternoon. Another person who died in the stampede has been identified as a Kenyatta National Hospital based taxi driver. |
