About 20-30 al Shabaab fighters attacked Galmagala police post in Fafi District in the evening of 16/08. The attackers used small arms and RPGs during the attack. Four administration police officers were killed and local teacher was injured in the attack. The attackers also set fire to the police post, destroying its complex of buildings. Al Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack on its Twitter account, claiming to have killed five police officers and seized weapons and communications equipment. |
