Students from the Maninday university campus and their neighbours clashed due to rising tensions over insecurity in the neighbourhood, leading to the students putting up a road block and beating up a couple from a surrounding neighbourhood. 80 residents of the surrounding neighbourhoods then invaded campus, armed with knives. Both sides fought using stones and knives; the clashes ended with 1 youth from the Befanamy neighbourhood stabbed to death and 3 students injured before the police intervened. |
