Up to 30 Berom, 16 confirmed, were killed by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen in the early hours of the day, during an attack on Shonong village in Bachit district of Riyom local government area of Plateau State. An additional 25 were injured in the attack, 40 houses were burnt down with valuable items including domestic animals belonging to the villagers killed and some taken away by the attackers. The reason for the attack is not known, though the Fulani have a history of attacking Berom villages. |
