Thirty-five people, including a soldier were feared killed at Wukari in Taraba State in a fresh violent clash between the native Jukuns and Hausa settlers. The began several hours following a Fulani attack on a Jukun village and lasted throughout the night, ending the following morning. Many others were injured. The clash was triggered when Wukari youths cited the corpses of those killed at Nwokyo village, a suburb of Wukari by Fulani herdsmen when they were brought for burial. Some sources later claim 24 deaths, others, including the Red Cross, claim 77 dead. |
