AS forces in Jowhar town launched an attack against Shiidle clan militia setting fire to Barow-weyne village. More than 7 civilians mostly women and children reported dead in the fire while more families fled the village. A2/AS Vs Clans/(0/10)/ (01)/Jowhar/Middle Shabelle/20100427.1068 The incident is a result of o dispute over agricultural land ownership between Shiidle clan (Bantu) and Galjeel clan (Hawiye ) located at Barow-weyne village, 17Km north of Jowhar town, along the banks of River Shabelle. AS court in Jowhar town ruled out that the land belonged to Gajeel. The Shiidle clan rejected AS court decision. AS sent forces to Barow-weyne village to remove Shiidle clan from the disputed land but Shiidle clan militia exchange fire with AS forces killing 3 of AS militants on 25April10 evening time. |
