Heavy fighting continued in Mogadishu around the ex-Ministry of Defence and in Talex and Shaqalaha areas in Hodan District on 23 and 24/10. AMISOM forces remained in control of the building that had been captured on 23/02 despite at least 3 AS offensives starting at 03.00 in the night of 23-24/02. AMISOM defences in that location have been reinforced throughout the day. Artillery fire from the AMISOM base in Mogadishu airport has been reported for most of the day and has been particularly intense in the night. |
