Two different explosions were reported in Heliwa District after AS vacated the area. Both seem to have been caused by booby-traps/IEDs attached to an abandoned PKM machine-gun and to a Toyata Carib vehicle left near the ex-Pasta Factory. The explosions occurred after TFG soldiers attempted to take the gun and the vehicle. It is the first time such tactics have been reported. Casualties could not be established. At least one workshop for the production of IEDs was discovered during a search operation conducted by TFG forces. Two suspected AS fighters were arrested at the site and handed over to the NSA. |
