Sub-clan militias belonging to the Ayr/Ayanle and Dir/Faqi Muhamed clashed in Miiracad around 40km east of Xerale. Two men hailing from the Faqi Mohamed sub-clan were killed. The fighting was reported to be a case of clan revenge killing that had been initiated by a dispute over the construction of a berkad by the Ayr and resented by the Dir. ASWJ sent forces to the area in order to assure the restoration of order and also delegated representatives from Xerale, Cabud Waaq and Guri Ceel to mediate the dispute. The two clans have a long history of conflict over resources in the area and despite their current alliance against the AS their relationship remains distrustful. |
