Armed men from the Bantu/Shiidle/Reer Baare sub-clans engaged in a dispute over the ownership of farming land sold by Galcel farmers clashed violently in Baaroweyne in the evening of 01/12. Three militiamen from both sides were killed and three others injured. The following morning the AS administration in Jowhar town dispatched some AS militias to the area to restore order. The AS militias clashed with a group of Baare militiamen in Magadley, 1km before Baaroweyne. Three militiamen were killed in that second clash and three others were arrested by AS. A woman was injured by stray-bullets. Tension remains high in the area. |
