The Somaliland authorities ordered the closure of Horn Cable TV on 14/01, accusing the station of having broadcasted programmes hostile to the President of Somaliland. The offices of the station were immediately occupied by Somaliland police officers and the station put offline. The director of Horn Cable TV was reportedly arrested. The following day a group of reporters and other supporters organized a demonstration in front of the Presidential Palace to protest against the closure of the station. The Police dispersed the protesters by firing in the air and arrested around 25 of them. |
