A group of youths hailing from Dhulbahante and Warsangeli sub-clans stoned one of the stores designated to replace the Somali shilling with Somaliland currency in Tule shire neighbourhood (Ceerigaabo) in the morning of 08/09. The neighbourhood is dominated by Dhulbahante and Warsangeli sub-clans. The replacement of the Somali shillings comes after Somaliland authorities banned the use of Somali currency for all business transactions in Sanaag Region on 05/09. Police fired their weapons into the air to disperse the youths. |
