Unidentified attackers armed with pistols shot and killed a traditional elder from the Hawiye/Jijeele sub-clan in Hawl-Wadaag neighbourhood of Beled Weyne in the evening of 11/09. The elder had been a member of the National Constituent Assembly in Mogadishu in 2012, and was at the time of the attack the security focal point of Hilaac neighbourhood on the west side of Beled Weyne. The killing is believed to have been perpetrated by al Shabaab operatives, for political reasons. The attackers escaped from the scene. |
