Ethiopia's Liyu police exchanged gunfire with a Dhulbahante man in the vicinity of Xamar Lagu Xidh on 15/09 in an attempt to arrest him. The man was injured in the shoot-out. There are different versions on the motive of the incident. One version suggest that the man was suspected of being a member of al Shabaab or ONLF while other reports indicate that he was a part of a group that killed two ENDF soldiers in Ethiopia's Somali Region and escaped to Somaliland. The Liyuu police returned to their base in the Ethiopian side of the border. |
