Al Shabaab fighters and Somali forces clashed in Damballi Village in Baidoa District in the evening of 23/10. The fighting broke out after government forces attacked al Shabaab fighters in the village. Reports indicate that the government forces were pushed back. The bodies of four government soldiers were reportedly discovered in the village, but the Somali forces claimed the bodies were of al Shabaab fighters. Tension was high in the area after the government sent reinforcement to Aawdiinle to drive out al Shabaab fighters who set up checkpoints and blocking commercial trucks from entering Qansax Dhere. |
