Jubaland forces vacated Koday village (52km NE of Badhaadhe) and returned to Mudawa Island in the afternoon of 14/11. The move was reportedly decided after Sheikh Ahmed Madobe advised them to withdraw based on intelligence reports indicating that al Shabaab militias were mobilizing to retake the town. Further reports suggest that Jubaland forces had not received from AMISOM/KDF heavy weapons, military equipment and reinforcements due to heavy rains and access constraints. Al Shabaab militias re-entered the town with no fighting and were again in full control in the evening of 14/11. |
