Militiamen from Biyo Maal clan manning a check-point in Ceel-wareegow Village (11km NE of Marka) stopped a mini-bus and ordered two Somali government soldiers on board to step down in the afternoon of 16/11. The two soldiers responded by opening fire and ran to a nearby bush where they called for reinforcement. Government forces based in Janaale Village rushed to the scene and clashed with the clan militia. Reports indicate that the fighting was related to a clash in Janaale Village the day before. One soldier was reportedly injured in the Ceel-wareegow clash. |
