AMISOM/Somali forces took over several villages under Beled Weyne District (most notably Luuqjelow and Raangaabo) which were under the control of al Shabaab fighters in the morning of 24/11. Reports indicate that al Shabaab vacated the villages prior to the arrival of the allied forces. Further reports indicate that one al Shabaab fighter was arrested in Luuq Jeelow village while sleeping under a tree. The allied forces handed to their owners about 150 collected by al Shabaab in the name of Zakat in the villages. No casualties were reported. |
