Two groups of Somali forces clashed over an illegal checkpoint near Jazeera gate of Mogadishu airport (Wadajir District) on the afternoon of 25/02. The fighting was triggered by soldiers who attacked district forces loyal to District Commissioner of Wadajir who set up an illegal checkpoint 60 meters from the Jazeera gate. AMISOM forces fired warning shots as the two sides came closer to the gate at the sea-side. One soldier loyal to the DC was killed and two others were injured. Four soldiers were also injured in the clash. Further reports indicate that the DC's forces arrested an unspecified number of Somali forces during the clash. |
