SNG military and NISA soldiers clashed at a checkpoint illegally manned by the former in Warmahan Village (30km NW of Afgooye) in the morning of 24/04. The fighting broke out after the NISA soldiers tried to remove the checkpoint. The two sides engaged in a serious exchange of gunfire for more than an hour after which the army soldiers withdrew. The SNG national security minister said that illegal checkpoints were unacceptable and disowned the soldiers manning the checkpoint. A number of combatants were killed and others injured, though hard numbers were not provided. |
