Gunmen from Dhulbahante/Qayaad sub-clan have ambushed a Khatumo State convoy carrying one of its founders (Dr. Ali Khalif Galayr) Dhulbahante/Baharsame sub-clan in the vicinity of Dharkeyn-Genyo (78km E of Buuhoodle) in the afternoon of 14/05. Reports indicate that the security guards escorting the convoy exchanged gunfire with the attackers before the assailants retreated back. The motives behind the attack could be linked with clan grievances between the two sub-clans of Dhulbahante (Baharsame and Qayaad). One person from the attacker's side was reportedly injured. |
