A group of Khatumo forces reportedly ambushed a Somaliland military convoy in Waqdariya area (15km S of Laas Caanood) in the midday of 13/07. Both sides exchanged heavy gunfire for more than an hour. One Somaliland soldier was killed while two Khatumo soldiers were injured and one captured by Somaliland forces. Two pastoralists bystanders were injured by stray bullets. The Somaliland forces had come from Gambadha Village and were heading to Dabo-Tag Village (46km S of Laas Caanood) to reinforce other Somaliland forces, when they got ambushed. |
