Al Shabaab fighters launched a hit-and-run attack against pro-SNG forces (not identified) in Qurac Joome Village (72km E of Ceel Barde) in the morning of 20/08. The two sides exchanged gunfire for about an hour after which the al Shabaab fighters withdrew. A pastoralist was killed by a stray bullet and a number of other civilians injured in the clash. The al Shabaab fighters took away a man they accused of spying for SNG forces. The al Shabaab fighters attacked the village after reportedly receiving a tipoff from unknown sources that AMISOM/SNG forces had left the village. |
