A SPU police officer hailing from the Darood/Dhulbahante armed with AK 47 rifle reportedly shot and injured two fellow SPU hailing from the Majerteen (Omar Mohamud and Reer Biciidyahan sub-clans) in the night of 31/08. Reports indicate that the perpetrator shot one of the victim at the shelter house in the compound while the other one at the main gate. One of the SPU injured shot and killed the attacker while escaping. The incident happened in front of UN compound while UN international staffs and An INGO international staff were present at the guest house. Latest reports on 01/09 indicate that one of the injured SPU succumbed to his injuries. Tension reportedly run high following the incident after the relatives of the perpetrator refused to bury him asking the government to handover to them the man who killed their kinsman. |
