A group of al Shabaab fighters ambushed a Food aid convoy escorted by AMISOM/SNG forces near Washaaq Baar (16km NW of Garbahareey) in the afternoon of 07/09. Reports indicate that both sides briefly exchanged heavy gunfire after which the attackers were reportedly overwhelmed. The convoy was coming from Buur Dhuubo and heading to Garbahareey when the ambush happened. Six al Shabaab fighters were reportedly killed while about 10 others were injured. Casualties from the allied forces could not be established. |
