More than a hundred people staged a demonstration in Gabiley on 19/09 in protest against the killing of the base of commander of Somaliland army in Qoriligud on 17/09. The base commander hails from Gabiley town. The demonstrators blocked the road to Kalabaydh and disrupted traffic. The demonstrators hurled stones at the police who fired in the air to disperse them. A speeding khat vehicle hit and killed a mother and her baby. Nine demonstrators were injured in the shooting. Local elders managed to disperse the protestors. |
