Al Shabaab fighters conducted a hit-and-run attack against AMISOM (ENDF)/SNG forces based in Ceel Garas (40km SE of Dhusamareeb) in the night of 24/09. The two sides exchanged gunfire for about an hour after which the attackers withdrew. Ten combatants were reportedly killed while unspecified numbers were injured. Following the clash Ethiopian forces killed two civilians, despite not believing they were associated with al Shabaab. The reasons for the violence against civilians are not known. |
