Tensions reportedly ran high after militiamen (Habar-Gidir/Sa'ad reer Jalaf sub-clan) blocked the security guards of Gen. Abdi Qaybdid on the road between Galkacyo and Cadaado in the afternoon of 25/09. Reports indicate that the two sides briefly clashed after which the security guards over powered the militiamen and forcefully passed the road block with three battle wagons while other soldiers with seven battle wagons remained at the road block scene. The security guards were heading to Cadaado to escort president Qaybdid back to Galkacyo. Both sides are reportedly calling for more reinforcement. Two reer Jalaf militiamen and a local sheikh who was trying to mediate between the two sides were injured. |
