The fighting broke out after the pastoralists refused to pay Zakat demanded by the al Shabaab fighters. The two sides exchanged gunfire for about 30 minutes after which the al Shabaab fighters withdrew. One al Shabaab soldier was confirmed dead. Herders' casualties could not be established. |
