Residents of Buuhoodle town staged a peaceful demonstration on 02/12 to express their solidarity with the people of Laas Caanood who protested against the killing of a policeman (Dhulbahante) at the eastern checkpoint of Laas Caanood on 01/12. Somaliland authorities claimed that the police man was killed by Khatumo forces who attacked the checkpoint earlier in the day but was immediately refuted by Khatumo interior minister. The protestors matched in the streets of the towns chanting anti-Somaliland slogans. The rally was reportedly organized by the Khatumo administration led by the vice-president. |
