A VBIED targeted a UN convoy near the civilian gate of Mogadishu airport located between Jazeera Hotel and a checkpoint manned by NISA officers (Wadajir District) in the morning of 03/12. Four people-the purported bomber, two NISA soldiers and a civilian bystander-were killed in the explosion, while 12 others, including seven UN escort guards, were injured but no UN staff suffered casualties. Two UN vehicles were also damaged. SNG police and NISA were deployed in the area after the blast to search all public vehicles and pedestrians using the road. |
