AMISOM (KDF) attacked Gadoon Dhowe Village (45km SW of Beled Xawo) in the morning of 11/12. The two sides engaged in a fierce fighting in which KDF warplanes took part. Over a hundred al Shabaab fighters also were involved in the fighting which was reported as the deadliest of late in the area. Unconfirmed reports indicate that the new al Shabaab leader was present in the area during the clash. The sound of heavy gunfire could be heard in Beled Xawo town. Casualties could not be established. |
