Al Shabaab fighters ambushed SNG/AMISOM (Djibouti) forces near Jimbiley Village (10km NW of Jalalaqsi) on the road between Jalalaqsi and Bulo Burte on 29/12. The two sides exchanged gunfire briefly after which the al Shabaab fighters withdrew. Three SNG soldiers were injured and a number of al Shabaab fighters killed. The convoy was also targeted with a RCIED but casualties could not be established; al Shabaab claimed have had killed a SNG commander. The allied forces were on an operation aimed at opening the road between the two towns following an al Shabaab economic blockade. |
