Unidentified six armed persons with pistols shot and killed a prominent Sheikh called Sheikh Hussein aka "Sormidaare" hailing from Rahanweyn/Laysan sub-clan and injured three other civilians in "Sormidaare mosque" while late evening prayers were been performed in the mosque in Boqoleey section of Berdale neighbourhood (Baidoa) in the evening of 02/02. Reports indicate that one of the injured people is a son of the victim Sheikh and two of the injured were taken to Baidoa hospital. The motive is unknown. The perpetrators escaped. Police later arrived at the scene but made no arrest. |
