Around 30 people, mostly from Habar Jeclo/Cumar Faarax Sub-clan staged a demonstration and threw stones at Ceel-Afweyn local government office on 16/03. The demonstrators were complaining about government officials and prominent elders for reportedly trying to use clan system in order to influence the interview panel for the recruitment process of Ceel-Afweyn District Commission staff. The protestors were chanting that their clansmen were left in the recruiting process. Ceel-Afweyn police arrived at the scene, shot in the air and dispersed the demonstrators, No arrests or casualties were reported during the protest. |
