Al Shabaab fighters launched an attack against Puntland forces based in Yalho village (50km S of Bossaso) in the evening of 04/05.The two sides exchanged gunfire for about 30 minutes after which Puntland forces withdrew. Further reports indicate that al Shabaab fighters took over the village briefly and burnt two battle wagons from Puntland forces. Three Puntland soldiers were reportedly killed and six others injured in the attack. Casualties from al Shabaab side could not be established. Al Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack. |
