Tension reportedly ran high between Ciise and Gudabuursi sub-clan in Xariirad Village (58km NW of Borama) on 28/05 following dispute over water resources. The two sides reportedly clashed with sticks and stones. The tension began after members of Cise clan rehabilitated the borehole in the village, connected it to a new water pump and said that they had handed over the running of the borehole to a private water company. Police arrested a number of people including two Ethiopian officers who were on visit from the Ethiopian villages along the border. Ten people were slightly injured in the clash. |
