An armed clash erupted between clan militia loyal to former Somaliland army local commander (Habar Yonis/Muse Ismail) and the police forces in the vicinity of Tuulo Dacar neighbourhood in Ceerigaabo on 10/11. This follows when police backed by the army conducted a security operation in attempt to arrest the former army commander after they accused him of smuggling weapons from Yemen to Somaliland via Laasasurad coast. A woman bystander and five others were reportedly injured in the clash. The clash triggered violent protest by the local residents against the security forces. The protestors reportedly blocked the roads and burned tires on the main streets. |
