Backed by SASCO, students of the Tshwane University of Technology riot, burning tires outside the entrance gate in protest of the actions of the National Student Financial Aid Scheme, which did not pay students what they had promised. The group's further demands included "an end to racism in Afrikaner-dominated faculties, readmission of all academically excluded students, provision for adequate residential accommodation, and salary cuts for all senior managers and directors."
